Donald Trump has pulled his feet in executing the latest round of sanctions against Russia, and with just one day left until the deadline, a top Democrat is calling him out for it.
It was August 2017 when Trump reluctantly signed a new sanctions package against Russia, while devoting an eccentric signing statement complaining about the sanctions. That law set an October 1, 2017, deadline for implementation, which Trump missed by over three weeks.
Now, there’s a new deadline of January 29 looming, and Trump has not acted.
In an interview on Sunday’s edition of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) called Trump out for his repeated failure to implement sanctions, and explained the rather obvious meaning of Trump’s foot-dragging.
